I would describe my teaching style as very patient, supportive and goal-oriented. I bring various activities to the class, including games and music, and generally let the students do as much work as possible, especially practicing speaking, writing, listening or reading. I learned that Student-Centered teaching is a good method and I try to use it as much as possible. I have a very clear speaking voice and most students find my classes to be fun and inspiring. I am used to being in front of people as a music performer and I find this helps in making the class more interesting and motivates the students to work hard.

I love using manipulatives with all subjects. It makes learning fun even for those that are frustrated with the subject. Since everyone learns in a different way I need to teach the material in different ways to find out which way is best for that student. By using manipulatives with verbal directions and giving examples for them to see covers the bases of physical, visual, and aural learning students. I was not very good in certian subjects like math in elementary school and I had to come up with ways to learn the material on my own. This has helped me to teach students that are like me when I was that age. I can relate to how they are struggling and their frustration in not keeping up with the rest of the class.

I enjoy seeing anyone's eyes light up when they learn something new. Everyone has the capacity to learn, and I reflect that by tailoring my teaching style to each individual.
