A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is not typical since I am not a certified teacher. I am creative in my teaching style using a variety of techniques. I understand that each child and person learns differently (Auditory, Visual, Tactile) so I try to discover their style and incorporate as much as possible. I try to teach using real life experiences and examples. I break things down into simple parts before moving on to the next level. I believe that it is important to instill confidence in the student which raises expectations and increases motivation. I am very patient with a good sense of humor.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am currently a tutor and mentor for a fifth grade child in Delaware, Ohio via the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. I have gained a tremendous amount of experience working with this student in and out of the classroom, and it has allowed me to develop my teaching skills in all areas of curricula. I tutor my student in each and every one of her subjects. I also informally tutor some of my peers at Ohio Wesleyan University, particularly in Science classes, in which I am most experienced.
I am a very interactive teacher. I find it helpful for the students I work with if I am able to relate a lesson to something else with which they are familiar. I like to use tangible learning tools and hands on methods, allowing the student to get the most experience possible with a lesson in order to really grasp and have deep understanding of the material.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a high school student, I attended Tiffin University to gain college experience and credit earlier than expected. After graduating from Clyde High school, I went on to Ohio State Mansfield, where I majored in psychology and special education. I am currently a full time student at Ashford University online. I am studying to become an advocate for special needs persons and children. I have been tutoring students professtionally for the past year. I specialize in reading and math. I received a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish with a minor in political science in 2009. I graduated Summa Cum Laude. I am now working on my Master's in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). I worked as an English tutor for international students at the University of Findlay from 2007-2009.
