I started out working as a Head Start teacher's assistant and the following year I was promoted to Head Start teacher and manager. I have also worked as a 1:1 instructional assistant with a high needs student. Currently I worked in a behavior school as an instructional assistant, and I have stepped in to plan curriculum and teach all the classes because the teacher has been on paid leave this year. I graduated with honors from a formal university, where I tutored fellow classmates; however, I gained most of my tutoring and teaching experience overseas, in a universal classroom. I have taught youth and adults in Mexico, Spain, Chad, Benin, Morocco and other countries. I am a doer who has shared his knowledge and experience in a variety of ways. When I worked as a photographer and filmmaker, I taught those subjects at many different institutions, from an after-school program for elementary school kids to NYU Graduate School. For many years now, I have worked as a science writer and editor. In my classroom one might observe the same material presented in various ways by means of lectures, DVD documentaries, readings, discussions, and Power Point presentations in order to accommodate the students’ different methods of knowledge acquisition.
For the last four years I have been at Cardigan Mountain School, where I taught English, Latin, Homeric Greek, ESL, and Ancient History.
