Took three years of college courses on Psychology at Ashford University, trained with a Computer Troubleshooting Specialist for four years, have two books of my own written word poetry published. In my time at Ashford I picked plenty of shareable skills, study skills, time management, and using my keyboard to it's fullest potential to meet deadlines. While training with the Computer Troubleshooter, I learned more about how to use software and typing/keyboard shortcuts to utilize computers to their full potential. I also learned how to use properly install hardware and to build a desktop, and where to find reasonably priced keyboard components.
I go with the styles that fit the student. I generally use the first couple of visits to assess what works best for the student and then work with the student in a calm and patient yet firm manner. I do not try to force results, every student ... read more

I have a versatile background that began with two business degrees and progressed to a professional career in purchasing and sales. I discovered along the way that my true passion was teaching and I can be more effective in a tutoring one-on-one situation than a classroom setting. I am highly proficient and have tutored nearly all subjects and grade levels.
Teach a man to fish...is for life. Tutoring is the same, especially with younger children. I haven't met a student yet who is unable to learn. My job is to find the method that will best enable students to self-actualize their learning. A success is converting the child's approach and passion for learning. If I helped to change the child's mind about learning, I have literally altered the course of his/her life in a positive way.

One of my gifts with working with children has always been the ability to relate well with them. I know what motivates children and have always shown patience and understanding. I have always tried to have children learn while having fun and try to give them multiple experiences because not all children learn in the same way.
I have my professional certification in Elementary K-6 and Physical Education K-12. I recently taught Kindergarten and I have more than 30 years experience working with children of all ages. I firmly believe that all children are capable of learning and are entitled to an atmosphere that is most conducive to the learning process and their individual needs. Personally, I like to incorporate many different learning styles, whether they are auditory, visual, or kinesthetic. Regardless of the subject matter, I constantly try to find ways in which to make the material exciting and relevant for the student. Motivating my students has always been a primary goal. Even though the main focus has been mainly the mastering of various academic skills, I am also somewhat of an academic rationalist in that I feel that all students deserve to be exposed to great ideas that have shaped our civilizations.
Even though I have been very active in the performing arts, teaching is my primary passion. I received a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Music from the College-Conservatory of Mus ... read more

As a graduate in the field of Liberal Arts, Arts and Letters, I have studied a wide array of subjects. I am comfortable tutoring children (as I do now 1-5) as well as young adults or adults preparing for the GED or SAT. A Little Bit About Me...

Teaching is my passion. I love to see the look on a child’s face when they have grasped a concept. Through my experiences I have learned that children are all different and learn in many different ways. The challenge of figuring out the best way for your child to learn, I find to be a great opportunity. I am a very understanding, motivated, and hard working person who wants the very best for each and every child I have the chance to work with. I believe in hard work. I believe in teaching by example and giving students the most opportunities to try their best. I am in favor of guided discovery. I am devoted to making a difference in the lives of children.

Currently, my experience with teaching has been in an online environment. In the past I have worked with staff members to provide training. In regard to children, the thought of being able to help them become successful with their reading and math skills draws me in, and I feel that my creativity and organization as well as desire to meet challenges would make me an excellent tutor.

A Little Bit About Me...

Excellent with children, I can adjust my teaching style with the personality of the child. No child learns the same, so it is important to create a learning plan that builds trust and respect between the child and tutor. I have found my greatest attribute is the ability to make learning fun and “cool.” I am passionate about teaching. If the children you teach can sense your passion for the subject, they will absorb that energy and want to excel. I also consider myself very patient - frustration has a very negative effect when trying to create a positive learning environment. Finally, I believe in creating a benchmark style constructional curriculum. I strive to instill the same love for learning my teachers gave me. Learning is for life.

I am delighted to tutor and train others. In my experience I found that everyone has the capacity to learn. The key for me so far has been to find what style works best for each person and then adapt to their needs. My style is to patiently guide each student to understand new concepts.
I earned a BSBA in Real Estate and Finance from the University of Florida. I went on to take undergraduate and graduate coursework in accounting as necessary to sit for the Florida CPA exam; passing all parts on my first attempt. My work experience as an auditor in public accounting and controller in private accounting have afforded me a broad perspective in practicing the accounting profession. Throughout my 20+ year career, learning and teaching others has been a significant portion of my work. This past school year I began tutoring math.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have taught for 20+ years in Germany (mainly Math, English and Reading) and for 4 years in Kansas City, MO. There I taught all core subjects: Math, Language Arts, Science and Social Studies. Right now I have got several part time jobs: I work as a sub at a colligiate high school (all subjects), I will teach German at the Edison College in Fort Myers (Continuing Education) and I tutor for a private company doing SES tutoring - Reading and Math. I have prepared young people to do their GED, too. The subjects I did there were Math, Science and American History.
I love educating children and adults and strongly believe in lifelong learning. Since I have taught at several levels and even in different countries, I use different teaching techniques. My goal is to help the learner to get the best education possible.

Teachers,as well as students, need to take responsibility for their actions. I have always given 100 percent to my students, and I expect students to give their all in return. I understand all too well, however, that many students suffer from disabilities which interfere with their educations. I have taken that understanding under consideration when instructing. I love more than anything a student who thanks me for my influence or teaching ability; I love more than anything opening a world of learning in a student.
Holding a BA in English Education, I graduated valedictorian from my college. During my formal years of education, I worked as a tutor for the Manchester, N.H. School District.
