I enjoy finding the way to make science interesting and learnable to individuals. That is different for every person. I tailor my tutoring to cover the curriculum and skills required by the class to meet the background knowledge and interests of the student. I also teach techniques to help in the memorization process and work with the student to tailor that to their specific personality.
As a summa cum laude graduate with a BS in Chemistry I worked for over 25 years in the printing industry. A Little Bit About Me...

From my tutoring experiences last year, my teaching style would best be described as very proactive. Many of the students were extremely frustrated by the concepts that they did not understand. This created an apathetic attitude towards the subject. Due to the lack of interest that I observed, I decided to go through problem by problem with the students. I talked them through each problem, and asked the students questions, but required them to calculate the answer. As we practiced and practiced, the students began to use the techniques that I taught them to calculate the answers on their own.
I am a second year UW Madison student pursuing a math degree. I believe that learning can be fun and creative, which is why my approach to teaching often involves the use of visuals and hands on projects to reinforce subject matter. Having been a Sunday school teacher and youth group leader for almost 20 years, I hold a special place in my heart for children and teenagers.
