I allow my teaching style to mold itself to each individual student, finding methods of communicating the information that best suit the learning style of my student. I favor a holistic approach to learning, believing that education should be of the whole person. There is not a best way to teach. Each child learns in a unique way for each subject. Some can learn easier if the lesson is put to music and they can learn a song or dance that embodies the knowledge. Others learn it if they can write it or color a picture of it. Involving all senses, smell and touch as well, can make lessons more concrete to the student. I have gained more patience and understanding with learners’ differences as I have aged and had more experience with the uniqueness of individuals. I encourage questions as a way to pinpoint where the student is confused which then allows me to go over that specific area of the lesson slowly and more clearly.
