A Little Bit About Me...

I have volunteered at Crosswell Elementary school in 205, and in 2008. I worked with first, second and third grade children. I helped with reading, language arts, spelling, and test preparation. I am available to help with math as well. I also home school my two children as well, have been for three years.
I prefer one on one teaching, so the child can have my undivided attention. I believe they will learn better that way.

My comments on tutoring Reading Comprehension : understanding author's intent

I try to engage my students in every way possible. Reading and reciting are great for vocabulary memorization, but I try very hard to bring the subject matter to life in a meaningful way to the student. Pictures, music, relevant historical information- anything to help facilitate learning.

I am a an active learner and listener, so students and I are able to build relationships quickly and can focus on making learning engaging. Reading Comprehension is one of my top subjects!

Throughout my years of education I have helped my fellow students with many different projects. I have always been in all honors classes and I am a hard worker. I have lots of patience so if you don't get it the first time ITS OK. I have won first in state for engineering and math competitions and then proceeded to nationals. I strongly support the belief that all children are capable of learning if given sufficient opportunity. As a classroom teacher often facing as many as 37 students at one time, it was difficult to provide the appropriate learning environment for many of these children's needs. Through small group tutoring, however, the right learning environment can be created if the tutor fosters a positive relationship with the student. A Little Bit About Me...

I have always had a passion for education and learning. I have always excelled in mathematics from elementary to collegiate levels. I LOVE math. I love to do math and I love to teach math. I was even on a math competition team in middle school. I have a strong statistical background from my Psychology studies and have taught Middle Grades Math to 8th graders.
