Reading Comprehension is one of my top subjects!

Throughout my years of education I have helped my fellow students with many different projects. I have always been in all honors classes and I am a hard worker. I have lots of patience so if you don't get it the first time ITS OK. I have won first in state for engineering and math competitions and then proceeded to nationals. Friendly tutor with over five years of experience working with children and adults of all ages. I am a an active learner and listener, so students and I are able to build relationships quickly and can focus on making learning engaging. Prior to working with any student, I always review the subject matter and prepare well in advance to tailor the lesson to the student's individual learning style. I try to engage my students in every way possible. Reading and reciting are great for vocabulary memorization, but I try very hard to bring the subject matter to life in a meaningful way to the student. Pictures, music, relevant historical information- anything to help facilitate learning.

I began tutoring as a volunteer with the America Reads program in high school. I continued volunteering with the Boys and Girls Club during college. After an opportunity to assist a professor in administering a freshman course, I applied to teach high school in Pasco County. I taught world history and psychology for one year before returning to school for my Master of Arts degree in History. I continued tutoring on the side, but spent most of my time assisting professors in the Department of History at Winthrop University as a Graduate Assistant where I edited exams and papers for undergraduate students. During the last year of my program, I worked with an SES program in South Carolina, tutoring both reading and math.
