I have been teaching and counseling special education students for 10 years. While earning my teaching degree, I was employed for 3 years as a paraprofessional and therapeutic staff support specialist. The students I tutored and counseled ranged in age from 9 to 21 years old. For the past 7 years I have been employed part time at an private alternative education school as the special education teacher. The students are in 7th through 12th grade, and they are diagnosed with a need for emotional support. I also work each afternoon as a home school teacher. My teaching experience is very diverse. During my appointments as a teaching assistant and tutor I have worked with students of every demographic, learning style, and education level. I am very effective at teaching complex subjects and making them easier to grasp for all students. My goal is to take subjects which most students find intimidating and making them fun and rewarding.
