While I have made a living as a technical writer in the software industry for sixteen years, part of making a life has been through my creative writing. My comments on tutoring Grammar : Masters Degree in English. Experienced college level instructor specifically in grammar. Extensive hands-on classroom instuction with first year college students, would be suitable for junior and senior high school instruction as well. I have also worked with ESL students at both the high school and junior college level.

I am very comfortable working with both indivduals and groups of students. I want to know what my students are thinking and feeling, so I very much prefer a seminar style of instuction. Depending on the subject - be it composition or literature - I break up the time we have into workshops, allowing us to focus on issues or topics of interest or greatest need to the students. If the coursework is grammar or composition, I also encourage a lot of hands-on writing and boardwork when possible. I feel students learn best when they try to express themselves and are then open to honest critical review. I believe that students should get opportunities to review and revise their work as well, presenting only their best efforts at the end.
