Experience Summary

I started working at JCPS as a substitute teacher in 2000 at a high-at-risk high school. I then becamse an Instructional Assistant III and was accepted into an accelerated program with JCPS and Ky. State University to complete the program in two years for my certification. I have taught at an at risk middle school for two years, and high school for the past six. I have also tutored for the SOAR after school program for the past seven years but with the cuts last year, the after school NCLB organization I worked for closed. THerefore, I am open for scheduling my own clients. I can provide many refereences of students parents that I tutored for more than one years consequtvely by request. I enjoy working individually with stuidents and moitoring their progress.

Teaching Style

I have a basic approach to tutoring and teaching students: - Identify what the student knows and still needs to learn to get where we need to bo. - Identify the strengths and weaknesses...and review the strengths and work at a rigoris pace to get where we know the child's skill level needs to be. - Celebrate the students successes to build thier confidence and increase their willingness to learn more and utlimately do better. _ Building a relationship with the student that we are partners in their education and we both will work to reach our set goals.

My Hobbies

I like to read, yard work and do DIY projects.
