Success is Feasible

In 2011 to 2012 I worked as a lead tutor for Academic Achievers in Muncie. My core focus was to improve writing skills. I would help students organize their thoughts into a structured document, and on occasion I would help build their vocabulary with five words of the week. Currently, I work at the Muncie Children's Museum where I create programs for children to exercise their motor and critical thinking skills in the visual arts and music.
I teach according to the student's learning style. I acknowledge that all students learn differently, and I excel at catering to visual, aural, and kinesthetic needs of students.

A Little Bit About Me...

While working with an adult native Spanish speaker to improve her English was certainly rewarding, my desire has always been to work with children or adolescents, as I feel that they are more amenable to an educational program and have a greater learning capacity when given the proper opportunities. My teaching style is one of constant progression, in which the student's strengths and weaknesses are weighed and an appropriate lesson plan formed based on his/her abilities. This lesson plan can be subject to change based upon rapid progression or extended difficulties in a subject, and I also take into account each student’s distinct learning style. I have taught Spanish and English in the high school setting since 1996. I have also taught ESL/ ESOL at homes, in schools, and for private organizations during that time and have had students from ages 6 - 66 from many different countries and at a variety of knowledge levels. I have taught Spanish at the middle school level as well.
I LOVE teaching. I enjoy working with students and helping them see something new or understand a concept they are studying in class. Spanish and teaching are my passions. I think teaching - AND learning - should be fun, clear, concise and comprehensible.
