I have taught math for thirty five (35) years at Lexington high school. I taught Algebra 1, Algebra 2, enriched (honors) Algebra 2, Introduction to Probability and Statistics, Pre calculus and Senor Math (Trig and Analytical Geometry) and Geometry. I also was also a visiting instructor at a branch of Ohio State for two years teaching Transitions to Math (review of Algebra for college students) I coached football for 35 years and track for 33 years at the high school and junior high level. I have a BS in Math from Baldwin Wallace (1974) and a MA in Math Education from Ohio University(1981). I enjoy teaching and working with all of todays youth. My main joy is teaching science and math since they are the foundation of all engineering principles which makes society go forward everyday. I truly miss teaching and mentoring kids. I approach teaching as an opportunity to bring out the maximum potential within each student. In teaching, one must realize that students learn at different rates of speed. Consequently, you need to find a pace at which the student feels comfortable. As most of my experience and interest is in mathematics, I always want to see a student be able to solve problems on their own. It's a great feeling when a student overcomes a hurdle and they realize that they can get the right answer. In my year of graduate school I accepted a position as a teaching assistant. It was my first opportunity to stand in front of a class. It was a very rewarding experience to be able to teach and also help people in subject areas of which you have great expertise and interest.
