A Little Bit About Me...

Over the past three years, I have tutored more than 40 undergraduate students in various capacities. Not surprisingly, my teaching style has varied quite a bit depending on my audience. Getting students to focus and engaging them in conversations that would get them interested in this subject has been the key. Dissecting a problem down to basic concepts and then explaining it in a simplified fashion has been my style and that has helped my students quite a bit. Very specifically, I usually spend first five minutes understanding student’s issues with a particular chapter or problem. Subsequently, I follow up on that with simple examples that explain these concepts which help students to grasp the concept easily.

Science and math are very difficult subjects to teach at a middle/high school level and relate to things that students identify in their world. Having spent a few years with a career in the science field, I have experience relating hard to teach concepts to things that people do every day. Before tutoring a student about any topic it is important check to see what the student already knows and for misconceptions.
