My comments on tutoring Biology : provided study guides

Most of my adult life has been dedicated to helping people strive for and achieve personal and academic success. I have worked in the academic field for approximately 8 years; tutoring at a community college level for 4 years and scoring MEAP tests for 4 years. In addition, I have provided on the job training for individuals needing extra help. At the community college level I headed up study groups for Science classes, creating study guides and practice quizzes. I also individually tutored students in English and English as a Second Language. On the job site I implemented ways for the employee to perform his or her job duties using charts, visual cues and task lists. Originally I am from Albania. I graduated from Molecular Biology and Genetics department of the prestigious Bosphorus University in Istanbul, Turkey. Established in 1863, formerly known as Robert College, it was the first American Educational Institution outside the borders of USA. Later I worked for two years at the Natural History Museum in London, UK. After that, for one year I was a researcher at the Molecular Systematics laboratory at Integrative Biology Department in Brigham Young University, in Provo, UT. I try my best to make the student figure things out on their own, by giving simple guiding questions or comments. I do not like to simply do the problems for them, as I find most people do not learn well this way. I am patient and empathetic, and I understand what it is like to approach a problem from the position of a student who is confused or unsure.
