My comments on tutoring GED: Standardized tests prep is my favorite type of tutoring sessions because it enhances knowledge a student already has. I teach them to utilize that knowledge to develop skills that can be useful over an entire spectrum of things. It is exciting to see how suprised some students are at their own innate skills in subjects they felt were their weakest.

I believe that people learn the best when they understand the meaning and logic behind what they are learning. When a student can see a pattern develop they develop an understanding that can be universally applied to many different areas of study and life circumstances. Learning is different then memorizing. It is especially important to understand the concepts behind the subject matter when planning continue in a similar learning subject. I am a licensed Social worker with tutoring experience in and out of college. I have the most experience in tutoring Algebra and other math. I have a student now that I am helping with AP English who has dyslexia. I enjoy watching her grammar skills increase and her overall understanding of the concepts develop. I am great with any age individual and have the patience it takes to work with any kind of student (special needs included).

I have four or five years experience tutoring APS students in the NCLB program. I've been tutoring SAT/ACT students for three or four years. I've taught college composition. literature & philsophy. I've also tutored ASVAB & GED. I can help you get better test scores & prepare for college! Or I can help you improve your writing, reading & math skills for the job or for personal satisfaction! I prefer on-on-one but will also tutor small groups (2, 3, 4 etc.). I usually work with students on the UNM campus or ABQ libraries, but I also like in-home tutoring (your or mine!).

I am hands on. I am very parient and to not get frustrated easily. I do not have an age preference becuase I enjoy working with all age groups. I have tutored most of the Math and Science courses at Glendale Community College for four years, tutored troubled teens at the YWCA during the same time period, taught Algebra at Gerard Catholic High School for one year, and tutored around the valley for several additional years. My motivation is to be the best at what I do and to teach students self discipline, good study habits, and to impart difficult subjects with clarity using everyday examples and creativity. Throughout my educational experiences I have sought true understanding rather than simply a grade with a stamp of acceptance. I've also worked as a Materials Analysis Engineer, Semiconductor Failure Analysis Engineer, and Metrology Engineer. I can teach most math, electronics, and science courses at the high school and college levels. I love teaching students and to explore subjects with honesty, creativity, an

During my one year contract in South Korea I taught children of all ages, from 6 to 15. Working with children was very enjoyable and rewarding. My style of teaching is very upbeat and interactive. I also like to use different methods of teaching focusing on participation. I believe that children learn more if the class is lively and engaging. My goal is to make the class fun as well as educational. In Costa Rica I taught English to business professionals at several different companies. Although teaching adults is much different than teaching children, I used the same style of teaching. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire, my wife and I moved to South Korea and taught English. This opportunity allowed us to gain teaching experience and become absorbed in another culture. Upon completing our one year contract we then decided to move to Costa Rica an
