A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style needs to respond to the needs of the individual. There are several styles of learning so I need to understand the individual to best know how to teach them the skills they need to pass the course.
I have worked in several different types of industries from hotels, restaurants, travel, mortgage companies, transportation, banks, theater, real estate and other primarily service businesses. Most of my interests lie in the financial and accounting parts of these businesses because of the importance of not only being able to present an accurate picture of the company's condition at only one time, but also to make sure that there were no mistakes, thefts being covered up, or other discrepancies. Very large companies have had loans go bad due to the improper accounting of transactions by the business owners.

This is not very professional sounding, however I have helped all of my friends pass classes with As or Bs from 7th grade all the way to the end of high school. I never charged them. I live my life with the hope of changing one persons life each day in a better way. I will do whatever it takes to help someone learn and it makes me happy helping others. As a high school student, my first job was at Kumon Math and Reading Center where I helped tutor Math students for 2 years. Once in college, my tutoring experiences were limited to summers but was able to help one student pass her summer school math class so that she could graduate. I am very patient and detailed teacher. I go step by step when trying to teach a child how to do something. I don't skip steps. If they still don't understand, I don't go on to the next part of the lesson. I make sure they know and understand how to do the first part before I go onto the second part. A Little Bit About Me...

I've found that I really enjoy teaching students, especially those who are struggling, because of the satisfaction that comes with seeing the light come on. I've had many students explain to me that my class is the first one that they've done well and actually understand the concepts. I've taught Project Management for the University of Phoenix in the past, but I especially enjoy teaching math at Pima College... Statistics and the various levels of Algebra.
On the survey sheets that I've seen, I'm often praised for being very patient with students and very respectful of the students, no matter what their level of understanding. I typically spend very little time in verbal explanation, but a lot of time if running through examples with students so they can see the patterns for themselves... practice makes perfect.
