I am a former Co-National Champion with 15 year of experience playing chess. From 2004-2006 I was an instructor for a class of 10 elementary chess students. I have taught both beginners and advanced students. I am very well versed in tournament play as well as the rules that go with it. My comments on tutoring Chess : I learned to play when I was 13 years old. Since then, I've been practicing to participate in tournaments representing my school, my hometown and my state by myself and by groups.

There are several ways to learn. My favorite and the one I work best is to observe. Mostly I understand the things when I see them working. When I teach, I always do an explanation first and then I put it on practice so the student can fully use this new skill.
I am from Mexico, so most of my experience in these three areas of knowledge. In my chess experience, I've been involved in this awesome game since I was 13. I've participated in many tournaments in my Hometown Matamoros. I represented several times my high school, my hometown, and once my state in a national tournament. I taught children how to play chess in my neighborhood as hobbies because all of my older brothers play chess, so I played with them during more than 3 years and many children got interested. Chess is one of my top subjects! I am a u1700 champion and I teach beginners and intermediate players regularly. I teach a more general focus instead of lines and I am more focused on the foundations (good pawns, etc). Have taught classes and individuals already.

I focus on concepts and foundations compared to facts/dates/lines of moves.

While in college I worked a number of years as an after school program classroom lead for two different school districts in the twin cities area. Additionally, during my years of Post College I have worked directly as a youth instructor in a number of scenarios.
