My comments on tutoring Math : Through Middle School level

I love to incorporate art and sensory experiences into everything I do to really activate the brain. The "Drill and Kill" is very rarely appropriate, so I tailor every approach individually. What works for one student may not work with another. My formal training includes many intervention types and experience with multiple programs and curricula, so I have a large pool from which to draw...then we get creative! My style REALLY aims for those over-arching foundational skills like critical thinking, thought organization, and problem solving. Math is one of my top subjects! I consider this to be elementary mathematics. I worked with elementary students last year that were gifted in math and the parents and students were extremely satisfied. However, most elementary students will benefit from having more manipulatives than I currently have. I want you to be extremely satisfied in the results your child achieves and math confidence your child develops. This may require some materials expenditures that we share.

I prefer to be a facilitator. I believe in the "give a man a fish and you feed him for one day, teach the man how to fish and you feed for a lifetime." I can give you what you need to know; but I prefer to help you learn how to solve problems yourself. By giving you the tools to use what you know to solve problems,you can have the ability to figure out solutions to problems that haven't been seen before.
