Creative Writing is one of my top subjects! I am able to tutor students in fiction, nonfiction, and prose poetry. With an MFA in fiction and experience teaching creative writing in the undergraduate classroom, I am well-positioned to tutor students at any level of experience. Lessons are designed to personally accommodate the needs of each student. Some students prefer to focus on learning successful writing techniques; others seek in-depth feedback in order to better revise existing work. I have a bachelor's degree from Coe College in Art History and Writing, which included both creative and technical writing courses for completion. As of 2013, I have a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Bowling Green State University. A Little Bit About Me...

Although, I have never been in charge of my own class room I consider my teaching style energetic. I love working with students of all ages and find that teaching methods and styles tend to adapt to those individual students. I think it is important to be encouraging and patient with all students. I would say that it is a little more toward laid back. Being over 6" tall, stocky, pushing hard, being an ogre, hard-nosed, that isn't going to work for me. People have a tendency to be a bit intimidated and fearful because of my size. I will use it to my advantage if it is necessary, or becomes necessary, but I've found being a little more quiet, reserved and coaxing the student to initiate the discussion is a little better. Ask leading questions, adjust and proceed, based on their response.
