Creative Writing is one of my top subjects! I am able to tutor students in fiction, nonfiction, and prose poetry. With an MFA in fiction and experience teaching creative writing in the undergraduate classroom, I am well-positioned to tutor students at any level of experience. Lessons are designed to personally accommodate the needs of each student. Some students prefer to focus on learning successful writing techniques; others seek in-depth feedback in order to better revise existing work. Although, I have never been in charge of my own class room I consider my teaching style energetic. I love working with students of all ages and find that teaching methods and styles tend to adapt to those individual students. I think it is important to be encouraging and patient with all students. While studying at Allegheny College I was pushed by my professors to achieve a high level of academic proficiency as a student, colleague, and later teacher. Very far from a vocational curriculum, Allegheny encouraged its students to broaden their view of the educative experience and to pursue academia as a multifaceted discipline.
