I am a dedicated professional who is passionate about helping students achieve academic success. This past year, I spent time as an SES Lead Tutor after school and in-home and tutored (Reading - phonics based - and Math) many children in grades K through 7th that held IEPs. Graduating with a 3.4 GPA in Mass Communications, I have always been creative in both design and writing. I have earned a dual BS in Mass Communications with the emaphasis being in both Public Relations and Journalism. I also have a minor in Spanish, a language in which I am fluent. I have excelled at English since highschool and have written many articles, essays, and website content. I spent most of my career training adults. For the last two years I have been employed with Richmond City Public Schools as a Title I Math Tutor. Growing up, I had a family of educators to encourage me to strive to do my best. Tutoring in the Richmond City School system has given me the opportunity to tutor and encourage these students to strive for their best. I have found my niche because of my love for children combined with my desire see them succeed academically.

When I teach reading, I convey my love of reading. When I teach math, I convey the logical beauty of math. When I teach other subjects, I stress the importance of the material and how it is relevant to everyday life. In Sunday school this week, we combined with another class, so there were people there who aren’t usually. Several of them thanked me and let me know how much they got out of it. My response is that I am a teacher. It’s who I am and what I do.
I was a corporate trainer for 3 years, followed by 12 years serving as a software instructor. Prior to and throughout this time, I also taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible school, teaching everyone from 2 year olds to adults.
