At SCSU, I work as a writing consultant at the Writing Center on campus. With students, I help to make them better writers by helping answer questions, presenting questions, working through the brainstorming and paper-writing process, and helping with formatting. As well, I have helped to coordinate our second satellite location, which entails working with people on their schedules, managing conflicts of schedule, and serving as a head of the second location. I am also fluent in Spanish and feel comfortable tutoring high school and college levels. My teaching style is, for the most part, non-directive. I think it is important to try to have students answer their own questions. When this does not work, I do not just tell the student what goes where or why this doesn't work, I give reasons and have them tell me these same reasons the next time we come across something that doesn't work.

I believe that every person has an optimal way in which they learn. Ideas that seem complicated can be made easy by simply changing the way in which it is presented. As a teacher it is important for me recognize how my students best learn and use that to present material. I also believe that students need to feel comfortable with their teachers. I believe that everyone learns in a different way so I approach teaching with a very adaptable style that adjusts to the person or people I am teaching. I love to find interesting and new ways to share information, and I find it very fullfilling to know that when I am finished teaching I have increased the opportunities for another person to succeed.
