My teaching style adapts to the students current level of knowledge. I always model 2 or 3 problems step by step before asking the student to try a problem. A student is comfortable knowing that I have "their backs" and won't let them be frustrated for long. This gives a student confidence to try problems on their own.
I taught in two public high schools in Orange and Osceola Counties in the Central Florida area for 5 years where I earned the Professional Educators Certificate to teach mathematics 6 - 12. Socratic method involvig the students in the lecture and learning process. Adult education is done mostly one on one. Even at the prison I moved about the room working with students and keeping them on task.
My BS is in education.My MS in business. Also, over 100 hours from other shchols including Algebra, trig, chemistry and physics. Students learn best from doing things. I try not to lecture, but to involve the student in the learning process. I can lecture, but I haven't found it to be as effective as other methods. I very much prefer tutoring to classroom teaching, mostly because I am helping people learn what they want to learn, and solve problems they are having troubles with.
