Recent Graduate Looking To Help

For most students, essays are their number one issue. After they have told me their concerns, I like to read over the paper myself and any correct grammar mistakes I find along the way. I also sometimes write in comments in the margin to refer back to. If I have an issue or am confused about a certain session, I stop and ask the student. I also often read the sentence(s) aloud so the student can hear the what is wrong. If he or she still does not see an issue, I explain my concerns and we work together until we are both happy. After I’m done reading, I express any more concerns I have and once again work with the student until we are both happy. I also help with work cited pages. Although, I am not a certified teacher, I am currently working towards obtaining my licensure in Language Arts 7-12th grade and have taken several education related classes. I have recently obtained my BA in English and am educated in all of the current trends and graduated in the top ten percent of my class. During my time spent at Defiance College I had the pleasure of working for the Academic resource center as a writing consultant and tutor. From these skills the students will learn how to approach and solve the problems they are given. Students need to experience success and will do so. Failure is not an option. My teaching style is based on the student. One teaching style does not fit everyone. I have to see how the student learns and then adapt my teaching style to meet his or her needs. I love helping people, and especially when they get it. That is so rewarding.
I was a tutor while in college. I tutored students in History, Accounting, and Greek. I was a double major:Accounting and Christian Ministry. I was a substitute teacher in Indiana from 1990-1994.
