Sign Language is one of my top subjects! I'm working on becoming an interpreter; because I'm not an interpreter yet I do not consider my self an expert. I've participated in several Deaf Culture events. I completed all of my ASL classes at the University of Florida under a deaf professor. Although I graduated with a B.A in Linguistics I was very involved in ASL, and will continue to be in my graduate program as a Speech Pathologist and future Audiologist.

I'm personally a visual learner so I tend to teach the same way I learned. I think repetition is important when learning and retaining ASL.

Sign Language is one of my top subjects! I have four years experience in American Sign Language interpretation and I'm very knowledgeable about ASL vocabulary, grammar, slang, idioms, and how to teach them in an understandable way. I fellowship with the Deaf every week so I know the current signs used in daily conversation.

I've been studying American Sign Language (ASL) for over five years. I've taught ASL multiple times at community and church classes with great language success. I have snout four years of ASL interpretation experience ranging from church services to classroom settings to events to guided tours and more. A Little Bit About Me...

I find that incorporating creative and fun learning techniques into academic lessons greatly improves student motivation. I enjoy learning the strengths and interests of the student in order to create opportunities to help them reach their full potential. I believe in using positive reinforcement and natural incentives in the learning process. My experience has taught me that students need to know the boundaries for classroom behavior. I believe this can be done in a positive, guiding fashion that leads to mutual respect of both teacher and student. Activities and projects help bring learning to life, so I enjoy making decisions together with the student which projects they would like to create. For example, we may create the solar system or learn to do a "Landscape" painting.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am a highly motivated individual with a heart and love for teaching others. During high school, I took advanced placement courses in English and Calculus and through these courses I was exposed to a large variety of concepts at varying challenge levels. In AP Calculus, I was able to utilize the foundations of mathematics as well as numerous other concepts. In AP English, I learned everything from classic literature and poems to advanced grammar and writing skills. At the University of Central Florida, I continued to excel in my courses and pursued a major in the legal field when I realized my dreams of going to law school. Through my legal education at Gonzaga Law School, I learned significant skills in proper grammar and writing as a result of the numerous legal research and written legal briefs required of law students and three years of required legal research and writing course ... read more

My teaching style comes from much of who I am as a person. I am easy going and laid back. I enjoy having fun, but not at the cost of flagrant misbehavior. I believe children can and do make mistakes. It takes the proper coach to guide them in a direction of better choice making. As far as learning, I believe in direct and indirect methods. I am a firm believer in Gardner's Intelligences, which basically states people have different learning styles. I enjoy discovering those styles with my students.
First and foremost, I am passionate about education. I believe education is key to success for any person, young or old, as well as society as a whole. Before starting into my bachelor degree in Social Science Education at UCF, which I will finish in approx. one year, I worked at a Tutor Time in Phoenix, AZ. I worked with babies to 12 yr olds. I also volunteered at a live-in rehab center ... read more

I like to encourage and support my students. Many students don’t want to learn or do not feel they can succeed. When a student is positive and feels that sense of pride; he will open himself up more to the idea of learning. Secondly, I will always do readings and visuals to stimulate both areas of the brain to ensure it is absorbed. I also believe in repetition of information once a student comprehends what has been learned. Lastly, I like to be consistent. I have always kept the learning styles very similar. I also explain to the student what exactly is expected of him and how I will do things so he will be fully aware. This way we are on the same page as to what the teaching session will entail.
I have always had a passion for education, whether it is teaching youth or adults. I have gained about 3 additional years of teaching and now am working in a higher education setting. I ... read more

I don't just want to regurgitate information to a student; I want them to learn. I allow them to try to complete and assignment, and if they ask questions, I think of the child's learning style. How they learn affects how I explain it to them or how I show them. If they are having trouble understanding, i will model their question and answer it correctly. I will ten ask them the differences between the two. I am very patient, easygoing, and I give praise often.
I graduated with my BS in CSD and am now going for my Master's. I have worked with children of all ages specifically in literacy, writing, and speech. I am comfortable teaching up to and including Algebra, any history, and elementary school science.

A Little Bit About Me...

Ever since I was in sixth grade, I have had opportunities to help children learn and see the benefits first hand from what I taught them. When I graduated from high school, I followed a different career path, but after a terrible car accident that left me unable to fly airplanes, I made a decision to go back to school and follow my love for teaching children. When I graduated from University of Central Florida at age 31 I was blessed to learn I was going to have my first child. I decided it was not the right time for me to teach full time, so I substituted in Brevard County schools, tutored many children, and raised 3 boys of my own. I know that I bring life skills, patience, and love along with my teaching credentials to help any child that may need me.
I do not have a particular teaching style. I am trained to teach different styles, but it is my goal to get to know every ch ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I am a creative, patient and nurturing person who enjoys working and interacting with children. Some Univ. classes completed were "teaching art & creativity to children","teaching reading" and "American Sign Language & Issues in Deafness". My Montessori training was completely focused on child development and learning. Maria Montessori actually devised her approach for a group of developmentally challenged children, with the belief that every child can be reached;it"s just a matter of finding which approach works best for each child. I have been much influenced by this philosophy and I remain a firm believer in child-tailored learning.
I have Montessori training and have worked in three different schools, two in Sarasota and one in Georgia. I was and still am drawn to the Montessori Method because of the hands-on approach, the creation of an interactive environment, creating a se ... read more
