**Fun, Creative Tutor Specializing in Math**

With a lot of subjects, especially math and science, students become discouraged because the content seems so useless. They are much more interested in their everyday lives than things like the Pythagorean Theorem. A Little Bit About Me...

I hold two degrees, a B.A. in Architecture which I achieved immediately following high school and a B.S. in Civil Engineering that I earned 20 years later. In the years between degrees I worked mainly in the construction industry providing blueprints for houses and various concrete structures. Going back to school after 20 years was difficult in that I had to re-teach myself some of the basic math (Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Calculus) that I had forgotten because it is used to solve many advanced engineering problems. My first two years of teaching were as an intern with the University of New Mexico and Albuquerque Public Schools. I taught 8th grade Math full time at a large public middle school. The next year I continued the same position and added on an after school tutoring program for all grade levels. I then took a position teaching 6,7&8 grade Math at an alternative school for students with severe discipline issues. This was a small setting with classes no larger than 12.
