As ambitious a student in the classroom as in life I have completed over 180 college credits at age 24. With a preference in sciences most of these credits were completed however my interest expands far beyond the realm into most every subject. Proof of this is shown by the length of my undergraduate work, six years with enlightening pauses in between to broaden my mind through travel. Biology is my strong suit however math such as physics, calculus and even chemistry are heavily influenced in the major. At San Diego state I have completed the majority of these subject units. Each child has a different learning ability. The best way I feel for success of a child would be a one to one or small group teaching style. This will provide the teacher to student kind of relationship where the teacher may know the level of each student. My teaching style is very Socratic. I rarely give answers to students. I love to have them search and discover the answers on their own. This involves a lot of questions and guiding the student to the correct answer. When students discover the answer on their own it is much more rewarding and long lasting for them. I firmly believe in fostering critical thinking and building students' logical reasoning skills. I have enjoyed working with numbers all my life. As a high school student, I took part in international math competitions. Later, I earned a Master’s degree in Mathematics and a Ph.D. in Statistical Genetics. I taught several semester-long practice/lab classes for math majors and a basic statistics course.
