I believe that learning Math is really very similar to learning a foreign language. I see my job as helping students to become familiar with the "words" and grammar of math so that they can learn to read, understand, and write the language of numbers.

My approach is one of teamwork, to give the students the feeling that their classmates and teacher are all working together towards a goal, their success. I believe that students need to be well-supported in their learning process but not spoon fed. Improvement is everyone's responsibility. A Little Bit About Me...

I have been a first grade teacher for five years. I took a break from the classroom for a few years to raise my small children. Currently I'm tutoring first, second and third graders in reading and mathematics. My two children are in elementary school so I am familiar with current curriculum and different styles of learning.
