As a student at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo I was interested in English education, especially in terms of helping students improving their reading and writing skills. I followed this interest by tutoring at the university writing lab, as well as doing frequent one-on-one tutor sessions with students in need. At the end of each quarter I conducted private, one-on-one counseling sessions with the goal of helping students pass Cal Poly's Graduation Writing Requirement.
At Mills College, while taking a class on pedagogical theory, I became a teacher's assistant at Merrit College, where I regularly led group discussions.
