I was a substitute teacher assistant for children with special needs ages 3-21, on and off for the past 6 years. I have 6 months of experience in outdoor education teaching various science classes and other outdoor, leadership and art classes/skills. I also tutored college undergrads in calculus and botany for a year in college.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a computer science teaching assistant I was often presenting students with their first experience in a new field, as a result, I have adapted a teaching style which draws upon my background in the sciences to offer real life examples and helpful tidbits to further a students understanding. The professors who most impressed me were extremely challenging. One exceptional professor jumps out at me. Her passion for teaching was inarguable and her skill was remarkable. She was witty and smart. I remember sitting on the edge of my seat, clenched tight, simultaneously intrigued and terrified. I teach by example, leading the student through a problem by asking questions about each step so that they can learn how to approach the problem themselves. I watch and evaluate the students as they work and provide guidence when thy make errors. I enjoy interacting with children of all ages and I do so in a kind and curteous manner.
