A Little Bit About Me...

As a graduate of Elizabeth City State University, I pursued an education in Computer Science with a minor in mathematics. I have gained experience in the these two fields in which I excel in. I have had experience tutoring young children at my church(math), as well as helping other peers during my tenure at Elizabeth City State University. Most of my tutoring came in the field of mathematics.
My teaching style is one in which I believe I can find the success of all students. I believe that each student has their own way of learning, whether it be hands on, visual, or by repetition of hearing. I like to interact with my students to pull forth their potential in which they may not see in themselves. I strive for excellence in everything I do, and I believe if I can make a difference in at least one child's life that it will be worthwhile.

I love to help students become over achievers. I discovered that my success is directly related to how I overcame my past challenges with math, particularly Algebra. Reflecting back on the years when I attended high school, I struggled with math. Once I was accepted to NC A&T, I realized that I had developed a fear of math and did not understand basic algebraic concepts. After being assigned a peer tutor as a freshman, I overcame my fear of math. Due to his mentoring I was successful at conquering math concepts and performed well in all other academic courses. Teaching to me is a vocation and not just a job. I enjoy helping children achieve their peek potential in the subject matter at hand. My teaching experience is mostly in private school settings and I taught public school for a year. I am currently waiting to be certified in Spanish in Virginia and will be taking the courses necessary to become a certified teacher in the near future. Helping others learn has always been a joy of mine. I have a BS degree in Elementary Education. I also hold a current Professional Teaching License.
