A Little Bit About Me...

As a Pinellas County School District Title 1 teacher I have taught and tutored elementary school students in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics. I have taught kindergarten through fifth-grade students individually, or in groups of four to six pupils. I particularly love writing plays with my second-grade kids! They were prolific writers under my direction, and enthusiastic performers! At Philadelphia's Temple University, I earned a B.A. in Journalism, and also took graduate level elementary education courses at Saint Joseph's University, also in Pennsylvania. Additionally in the Keystone state, I was a newspaper reporter, freelance writer, and advertising copywriter.
I love working with elementary, and jr. high school students. Kids love me because I am very friendly, encouraging, extremely patient, and a lot of fun. My lessons are highly creative, and engaging. Students es ... read more

I look at each student as an individual with specific learning styles that they respond best to. My goal is to identify the learning style or styles of your student and then apply my creative mind to finding ways to present information. Positive reinforcement has given me the best success with students through the years. I believe there are no stupid questions and assess continually until I know that a concept has been grasped. Celebrations of milestones and victories are a large part of what I do as I believe self-esteem and failure can be the biggest obstacle a student must overcome.
As a graduate of Humboldt State University with a BA and a 2 year post-graduate certificate to teach, I have been led through an array of opportunities over 28 years. I have dealt with special needs children, teens, preschoolers, elementary children and taught any subject placed in front of me. ... read more

Teachers need to be well versed in being able to teach a lesson in every learning style. A teacher must be able to identify each student’s personality and niche for learning. Research has proven that students learn in a multitude of styles. It is vital for a teacher to take the time and assess how each student learns best. An effective teacher will then apply that information into every lesson to insure quality learning. Teachers must bridge the gap and provide opportunities for every child to be successful. By using Howard Gardner's Multiple Intelligence a teacher can pinpoint the style in which the child learns best.
I have recently graduated from college with the skills and knowledge of how to teach children. I have earned a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education. I have been student teaching for the past year. However, I have also completed several practicums within the s ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I believe all children can enjoy eating broccoli. I find this works best if the broccoli is smothered with cheese and accompanied on the plate with something fried. I have found that overeating is a very effective way to teach the student dangerous gastric consequences. I demonstrate this by ordering pizza, allowing them to eat as much as they want, and then immediately afterwards giving them free reign to various quarts of ice cream. I know I can make a difference in every students' stomach.
After graduating cum laude from Yale University with a PhD in Eating, I interned for two years at Dunkin Donuts, fine tuning my skills in eating pastries. I've also spent two summers eating in various food malls, specializing in China One, Chick Fil-A, and Baskin Robins. I have tutored students Overeating, Pizza, and Alka Seltzer.

My teaching style is very hands on. I believe in using manipulatives to help engage a child better. I feel like learning can be fun and it is up to us to make it that way. I believe all children have different styles of learning and it is up to us as teachers to ensure we are adapting our lessons and styles to accomodate all children.
I currently have a BS degree in Family and Consumer Sciences with an emphasis in Early Childhood and a minor in Psychology. The program at Pittsburg State University was very intensive and provided me hands-on experience working in child care facilities, creating developmentally appropriate lessons for preschoolers and working closely with families.
