Over the past 15 years I have had variety of different teaching experiences. I taught literature as a TA at UC Santa Barbara while studying for my Masters. I have tutored K-12 students in both Math and English. While studying for my undergraduate I assited in running a homeless shelter where I taught many of the children reading, writing, and math. I have a passion for teaching and am a mother myself and understand the true value of educating our youth.
It truly depends on the student and the subject. I try to adapt my teaching style to what the student needs. If one approach is not working, then we can work together to find an approach that does. I believe that it is important for the student to be able to relate to the teacher and it is the teachers job to create that connection.

I believe that a big part of teaching is listening and observing. Not every student learns the same way, so it is important to be patient and try to understand what works best for the student. In many cases, examples are helpful in learning. Examples that are tailored to a specific student (e.g. drawing correlations to cooking for measurements, or sports for averages) can be a great basis for understanding concepts. I have done classroom teaching and one-on-one teaching. I prefer the one-on-one approach because it is so effective, and so satisfying for myself and the student when progress is made.

During my undergraduate career, I was a teaching assistant for Physical Science and General Biology for two years. My responsibilities included teaching several lectures, the grading and any extra assistance needed by the students. After graduating, I taught High School chemistry for the Biola STAR program. During this time, I also tutored at a learning center in Fullerton. In 2007, I taught 3 sections of general chemistry lab at CSULB.
