I believe that it is vital to a student’s learning that the student should be pushed within their comfort level, to show themselves that they are capable of achieving great things. Even when we think we aren’t gaining anything from what we are doing there is a part that we keep with us. A Little Bit About Me...

As a graduate of Bowling Green State University's Master of Education program, I have always had a passion for working with students in both a school and counseling setting. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Sociology, which enabled me gain employment as a Crisis Hotline Phone Attendant and a Behavioral Specialist in a Children's Home for troubled and at risk youth. In addition to completing the Masters program, I also earned my school counseling license. My school counseling internship gave me the opportunity to teach students with a variety of diffent learning styles. It is important to stay creative in the classroom. As a foster parent, I tutored our first child as he progressed through kindergarten and the first grade. His previous school experience was lacking at best, and he had little confidence in his scholastic ability. I was able to pinpoint his natural aptitude--mathematics--and use it to help not only boost his self-esteem regarding academics, but also to tailor my approach to his other subjects as well. Since math is very much tied to logic, using logical constructs to aid him in his critical thinking proved fruitful in showing him how to solve problems regarding tasks such as alphabetization, grammar, and spelling, among others.
