I have also worked in the business field and am able to teach students today how to apply mathematics in the real world. Recently I have been teaching as a substitute teacher in 3 counties and I have been doing alot of tutoring as well.
I am certified to teach secondary mathematics and social studies by the state of OHIO. I also enjoy teaching college students and tutoring on a weekly basis. I teach for the students to learn and to enjoy the learning process. I am satisfied when I see the students are able to grasp the concepts on their own and see how the application works. A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy teaching adults as well as high school students. I do not have much training teaching below junior high; however, I am confident that I could successfully teach math or language. Although, I don't mind the traditional classroom setting, I am quite used to instructing on a one-to-one basis. Our GED programs are completely individualized for learners to move at their own pace, and I encourage this type of teaching style when manageable. Many of the students/adults that I have worked with have a learning disability of some sort, but I feel that I learn from each student just as much as they are learning from me. I enjoy teaching and couldn't see myself doing much else.
While attaining my genetics degree at Ohio State, I worked at the OSU Chimpanzee Center. After graduating, I started working for the Department of Agriculture in the Weights and Measures division. It was my job ... read more

I am "on-fire" for teaching. I have alot of enthusiasm for educating and I bring that to my teaching style. With mathematic skills, I believe that it is important to stress organization and "doing the steps". Even though math can be frustrating for some children, I try to break it down to simple steps and guide to students to work towards the whole solution. Positive experience and attitude will help all children with math. I want to be a positive influence in student lives and strive to be available help and listen when needed.
As a graduate of Grove Ciry College in Grove City, Pennsylvania, I hold a BA in Mathematics and well as a secondary education teaching certificate. These degrees have given me both the education and instruction in higher level mathematics as well as instruction to teaching methods and styles. During the last 7 years, I have tutored students in Algebr ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated from college with certification to teach grades 1-12. Do to the job market at that time, I was unable to get a full time teaching job. I substituted and then tutored for 2 years. I then worked various jobs working with the public. Although much of work experience is not in the teaching field, I have worked with people in many ways to reach their full potential and can relate to them on a level that they will comprehend.
I believe in using a multi- modality approach to teaching. The more senses involved, the more likely one will remember. I also believe in trying to make material needed to learn to seem approachable or pertinent in their lives.(No matter the age) Anyone can learn if it is presented in a way that makes it exciting and fun. You must let them give a sense of accomplishment and success.

More About This Tutor...

My passion is sharing my knowledge with others. I studied at Kent State in Kent, Ohio. While at Kent I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science, and a minor in English with extensive course work in business. Following undergraduate study, I ventured on to complete a Master of Arts in Physical Education. My concentration was Therapeutic Recreation with a focus in gerontology. I taught a class during my graduate assistanceship and acted as a teaching assistant to three professors.
Me teaching style is similar to my leadership style, democratic. I like to have students explain what they are thinking when approaching a problem. This way, it is possible to determine where the breakdown may be. Examples, definitions, and sometimes taking a step back can make a significant difference when attempting to move forward. A strong base is vital.
