I have worked in both General Education and ESE education. I speak spanish fluently and french, semifluently. I also have some background in American Sign Language. I have also worked with the emotionally disturbed child.
I use whatever works best for the child and can hold their attention span. It depends largely on the child's age, interests, and whether or not there are any learning, or any other disabilities. All children are capable of learning and enjoying to learn. I believe all children, whether normal developing or special needs deserves the same experiences, just delivered in different ways.

I have had wonderful experiences teaching many interns and residents in medical schools hospitals in the US> I have reintroduced older medications that have been used in the past and are very cost effective but have been forgotten. I have volunteered at a local elementary school and shared experiences to help the young people understand the text and information given.

A Little Bit About Me...

I like to motivate my students by providing background knowledge and examples of application in the world outside of textbooks. I think it is important for students to create an emotional experience to ensure that knowledge will be stored. I implore traditional methods, as well as research-based approaches that connect to students audio, visual, or kinesthetic learning styles. I am dedicated and patient and make it my responsibility to find the way each individual student learns and absorbs information.
I have worked in an ESE classroom teaching math and science to 4th and 5th grade students. I have also had many other practicum experiences in schools and have worked with students as a whole group, small group, and individually. I like to challenge my students to reach their potential. I realize there is a fine line between challenging and frustrating my students. I like for my students to figure out math problems on their own as much as possible. My teaching style is to model new material, do guided practice, and independent practice. Hopefully by the time they finish this process they have mastered the particular lesson.
I decided at the age of 38 to attend college and earn my BA of Education degree. I have worked with and coached young people most of my life on a volunteer basis. Teaching has always been one of my passions. I have worked with students with learning disabilities in my eleven years of teaching. I have taught all the core subjects from grades 3-12. I first began my love of teaching and tutoring children when I was a senior in high school. As the president of my school's National Honor Society, I began a tutoring program that enabled elementary and middle school students to be tutored by high school students. I continued to volunteer and tutor students while I earned my BS in Human and Organizational Development from Vanderbilt University. I am a graduate of the University of Florida and have been fortunate enough to excel in school throughout my life. I started tutoring in middle school and continued throughout my college career.
