I lived in Brasil for a year and a half. I speak fluent Portuguese and have taught English to native Brasilians and Portuguese to Americans. I also worked in a Brasilian cafe for a year upon return to the United States, where clients thought I was a Brasilian. I teach in a way that the student can learn based on their specific needs, not based on a manual.

A Little Bit About Me...

After earning a Bachelor’s degree in a Social Science from the University of Florida, I feel that I have gained a well rounded education in all areas including English, mathematics, biology and natural sciences.I am currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Public Health because I love to learn. I have been working with children ages 3-14 since I was 15 years old. I spent my summers working as a summer camp counselor. In college I worked for an organization called America Reads and tutored approximately 10 elementary students in reading. Together we read books at their specific reading levels and played games to that allowed them to build better reading and writing skills.

I come from a family that gives education the first place. I have always earned good grades in school. I believe that all students can achieve the same. I understand that not everyone can perform similarly in a classroom setting because each student has his own learning style. While tutoring, I patiently take time to understand the student and adapt to his learning pace. I am creative while teaching and am concerned that at the end of a tutoring session my student acquires understanding of the material.
