My comments on tutoring Special Education : I have a Bachelors (BA) degree in Child Education with my Masters degree (MA) in Special Needs Education. For the past three years I have worked as an SEN teacher working with both Autistic and Epileptic people both in school and and as a private tutor / carer in their homes.

I have traveled the world with my husband for the past 8 years before moving to the USA. I like to make teaching fun! If a student is bored they aren't going to be putting 100% into their work. I also use a positive reward system and celebrate all achievement. Even if it is minor.
I have been working with kids of all ages for a long time. I love to see them learn and grow. That moment when they "get" something is magical! I spent the 2011-2012 school year teaching at a title 1 school in Collier County and have grown exponentially from it! I had several students in my class who needed special help, and half of my class were English language learners. This is my eighth year of teaching. I have taught grades K-5 special education in the subjects of reading,writing and math. I currently teach a modified curriculum level one class in Immokalee. This is my second year of teaching in the state of Florida. Last year I taught in an Inclusion setting in the grades of K and 1. In the state of NC I uses the Wilson Reading Program to teach phonics. I prefer to work with K-2 children.

I like more interactive methods, as that is the basically what I did the majority of the time. I don't enjoy seminars with large groups as much. I try to be very patient and articulate and if one avenue of explanation is not working I will try another. I am an encourager - you can do it!
