I graduated in December 2013 with a Bachelor's of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies. My specializations are in elementary education (prek-6th grade) and all-level special education. I worked in Hale Center ISD for the after school enrichment program at Akin Elementary from August 2012 until the program ended in June 2013. I completed one rotation of student teaching in special education at Hillcrest Elementary and one rotation of student teaching in a 3rd grade classroom at Thunderbird Elementary. I have been teaching special education at Highlands Elementary since January 2014. Through my teaching style I emphasize hands-on learning by using manipulatives. I also use modeling and repetition. I've always been a doodler. I began my professional debut as a free-lance editorial artist in 1992, while the national election raged on between then-president George H.W. Bush, Ross Perot and a young fellow from Arkansas, Bill Clinton. My caricatures loomed through the pages of the Salinas Californian for about two (2) years. At about the same time, I was a contributing artist for our church's newspaper, Maranatha. I have had the honor in having my caricatures displayed in the Houston Astroworld Six Flags amusement park before they closed their doors.
