My comments on tutoring Grammar : We have Certified Teachers and Degreed Tutors who specialize in each subject or grade level. Call us to ask about each individual tutor and their credentials.

Each Certified teacher has the ability and skills to individualize the teaching style, based on the child's learning style. Due to this, we offer for the teacher or tutor to do an assessment on the first session at the same fee as the tutorials. Once they do this, they are required to teach or tutor in the style fit to your child's learning and other skills for their potential and to help them reach their academic goals.
We are a tutoring company with a team of tutors and Certified Teachers. Each teacher and tutor is required to be experienced and have an education related to the subject or field they tutor or teach. Our teachers are required to be experienced and familiar with teaching in addition to tutoring. We can discuss each one's individual experience and credentials when you call. Please feel free to Call Jenn to ask about the tutor or teacher in your area. jenn.acemycourse ... read more

I believe the first thing you need to do is to find out what the student needs help with. At times I have used music, poetry, or computer programs to get the students attention. Repetition is very helpful and note cards are good for memorization. Taking notes is a good way for the student to stay focused. A little comedy helps too to help students to remember. I enjoy helping students, adult or younger, feel the success of learning. Sometimes it is a struggle, but it is always fulfilling to see the relief and happiness they feel when they do succeed.
My original degree was in English with a minor in Spanish. I received my teaching certification in 1979 in Secondary English/Spanish. I taught adult ESL part time for 2 years in the evenings. After a taste in this field, I began teaching in ESL and have taught 9 years in public schools. With one school district I also had a c ... read more

I have found through my most recent teaching and tutoring opportunities that all children have the capability to learn. Some just need that one-on-one assistance in order to succeed. I believe in hands-on learning that provides students of all learning styles with the opportunity to excel. I also believe in discussion as another means of learning through the method of Socratic questioning for all levels of English learning. I am eager to provide the means for each of my students to be able to not only learn to read and write effectively, but to also be able to use critical thinking in all subjects and levels of learning.
In order to achieve the knowledge necessary to teach secondary level students reading and writing skills I have been driven to achieve a Masters degree in Secondary Education with an emphasis in Secondary English. Through extensive research of learning strategies f ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

As a person who holds both a BA and MA in English, each with concentrations in writing (creative and technical, respectively), I am qualified to, and have for several years, tutored English language studies skills, including composition, grammar, punctuation, and reading comprehesion, to students from the third grade through college. I have also taught English composition at the college level. Additionally, I have tutored students from primary to secondary school in other liberal arts subjects where English language and study skills are applicable, such as social studies and history. As well, I have tutored primary school students in science and arithmetic. Finally, I have also tutored beginning guitar.
My teaching style is one in which I strive to engage students in the subject by both instructing and challenging them to think on their own. I also strive to accomplish this goal in ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I have 16 years teaching elementary grades 1 through 3. During this time I taught Compensatory Education for 2 years in 1st grade, 4 years in 2nd grade and 1 year in third grade. In the Compensatory Education classes I would receive the poorest readers and worked with them throughout the school year. The 3rd grade Comp-Ed class all started as poor readers and ended the year by all passing the reading portion of the Texas TAAS test. I had a 1st grade class for 5 years and 2nd grade for 4 years. I also taught in Italy DoD Schools, taught basic skills to American GIs overseas, and I am currently a sustitute teacher for both Bastrop and Elgin ISDs. I have over 120 in-service hours, have been substitute of the year for schools in each district.
I have always loved working with children and I believe I can make a positive difference in childrens' lives. Children learn through seeing, hea ... read more
