I find out what exactly the student is lacking in the subject by asking a few basic questions on the topic and make a judgement of the student's understanding on the topic and then proceed forward. I began working with children who were diagnosed with autism my first year of college (I did this for 7 years). I felt a sense of accomplishment as I watched them grow as people. I realized through these experiences that I wanted to help people learn and become accomplished. Later, I decided to student teach in graduate school.
