Reading and reciting are great for vocabulary memorization, but I try very hard to bring the subject matter to life in a meaningful way to the student. Pictures, music, relevant historical information- anything to help facilitate learning. Friendly tutor with over five years of experience working with children and adults of all ages. Since my hire in August 2004, I have planned, co written, and implemented curriculum. As a result, 74.6% of my students exceeded the state average for the 2005 SCISA assessment of State Standards; scores in Seventy-five point four percent of my students exceeded the state average for the 2005. In addition, I have also implemented various academic incentive programs for student enrichment. With these programs, students continue to develop pride in their efforts to engage in the learning environment.

I excel at teaching intensive phonics and addition/subtraction/multiplication/division facts. Besides giving my students a strong foundation to build on, I also love to energize their internal motivation to succeed. My love of kids lead me to get a Masters in Elementary Education. I taught third grade for three years and fourth grade one year in private Christian schools. I enjoyed being able to carry on the great Christian heritage of our country and our faith as Christians to the next generation. I tutored several students who were learning English as a second language. In the 2014/2015 school year I worked at a Montessori School. I am a visual / tactile learner. I have 16 years experience in Elementary Education. I received my bachelors degree from South Carolina State University in 1995. I received my masters degree from Walden University in 2007. I was chosen as Teacher of the Year in 2008-2009. I have experience in grades 1,2, and 3. I also taught an adult education math class during the summer of 1996 and worked with various youth groups during summer school and through the JTPA Program.

My teaching style is mainly dependant on the person that I am tutoring. If a student needs to take a slower process to learn than I am adaptable to that. The same is true for someone who has a little faster pace. I am flexible. I have experience with teaching adults how to read at my local literacy organization. Also, I have tutored children with Reading and Math. I was a substitute teacher for students from Pre Kindergarten through High School with different subjects and disciplines. I can freely tutor others because of the experiences that I have had while earning my degrees. Helping others learn is a passion of mine.
