I have Substituted for two elementary schools on several occasions and I've subbed at a jr./sr. High once. I have had wonderful experiences and I love working with children. I'm hoping to start collage soon so I can become an English teacher. English is one of my favorite subjects and always will be.

I enjoy working with children because they are more open to learning. To me, there is nothing more fulfilling than when a child grasps concepts he or he previously struggled with. I believe everyone has the ability to learn. It's a matter of adapting to the child's strengths, weaknesses and learning styles. I am very flexible and like to "think outside of the box." As a journalist, I value communication skills. I have 4 years of professional experience in the fields of marketing, public relations and communications. I love sharing my love of the English language with others. Last school year I tutored a kindergartener in reading and vocabulary.

My teaching style is one of friendly leadership. Working through problems or lessons with the student by leading them through it, then working it with them side by side while explaining the details helps them achieve the accomplishment of learning without making them feel as if they were just instructed how to do it. Helping a student learn is more than just teaching them a lesson in math, science, or English; it’s about being someone that they can look up to as a role model, being someone that they can learn from in more than just an academic manner, and being someone who is there for them when they need something. Personally, I think students of all ages and academic levels need to be coached and pushed to achieve their full potential. My teaching style approaches the learner with patience and creativity. As an art and writing student, I realize that many kids learn differently, and I try to approach each situation as a unique situation. As a writing consultant what I loved hearing about was when students became more confident and improved to the point of independence.
