I have always known I have wanted to be a teacher. I do my best to adjust what I am teaching to what my students actually have passion for. I believe that not all students learn the same and that is some thing we need to constantly be adjusting for. I’ve never bought into the argument that some kids just can’t do math. There is plenty of truth that some learn math much quicker and easier than others, but with a good work ethic and plenty of encouragement all kids are capable of learning these sciences. I feel the most important thing to do as a teacher is to stay positive, and try to somehow relate the math problems to real life situations. When correcting a student, it’s vital to carefully choose your words, for a harsh response will demoralize the student’s spirit and desire to learn.

My electrical engineering degree was pretty much a math degree by default. In addition, I'm currently pursuing actuary certification. Actuaries are the statisticians in the insurance and finance world. I've been tutoring for 7 years, and have had many successes. One of my students earned a perfect 800 on the SAT math.
If I could quit my day job and become a high school math teacher, that would be my dream come true. I truly enjoy tutoring.
