A Little Bit About Me...

I have worked with children in the public school system for thirty-four years as a classroom teacher, Title I augmented reading teacher and as a media specialist. Largely due to my years experience as a reading teacher my class of inner city children scored in the top one percentile on the Georgia Criterion Reference Test(GA CRCT) in Reading. I have always felt that if you give a child the wings to fly via reading and life long love of learning they can achieve whatever they desire in life, and I think I have been quite successful in this area.
My strongest area of expertise in teaching is reading. I have taught it for years. My teaching style consists mostly of being patient. Not all students are quick to learn everything. We all have our strengths and weaknesses, but it is important to emphasize those strengths and minimize those weaknesses by teaching in a way that is most conducive to that student's needs. That is the beauty of one-on-one tutoring. Lastly, the goal is to make learning fun no matter how seemingly impossible this may seem by making interesting, real-world connections to the material.
