Zaven Parsamyan is a native of Yerevan, Armenia. He began his piano studies at age six under Yakov Zargarian and Ivan Meliksetian at the Tchaikovsky School of Music for gifted children in Yerevan. After his graduation from the Komitas State Conservatory in Yerevan he was named professor of that school and later, vice-rector of its branch in Spain. Since his student years, Mr. Parsamyan has been performing solo and with orchestra, teaching extensively throughout Armenia, Russia and Western Europe. In 1995 he was invited back to Spain where he gave numerous recitals, conducted Master Classes, and judged international competitions. A Little Bit About Me...

As an early childhood teacher, I have had several opportunities to help children (school age), to do homework. I also was a tutor in high school to a boy for just Algebra, which then turned around to being all of his subjects and helping him keep on track. The hardest thing for me was that he had only lived in the U.S. for four years, and had trouble speaking English. After each session of tutoring, I would grab the Scrabble board, which encouraged him to use more words, learn new words, and have fun while doing so.
I like to get to the point of certain problems, such as reading the child/student when I see them, ask them some questions about the subjects they need help in and why they need help. I have worked with Infants-School age for over 5 years, and enjoy being there to help someone in need. I believe in giving back, because so many of us are blessed already.

As a graduate of the Boston Conservatory of Music, I was trained to be disciplined as a music educator and as a performer. My classroom internship began freshman year and continued until my senior year when I was required to student teach general music classes.I also maintained my vocal performance level by giving recitals and continuing vocal studies even until the present time. I have been a church music director and soloist for twenty-three years and have taught general music in grades Pre-School-8 for twenty-eight years.
I particularly enjoy teaching grades K-5 because they are very eager to learn and explore music through movement, Orff instruments, singing, and dancing. However, I enjoy teaching students who are serious about learning an instrument and want to progress. I believe that all children have a certain potential which can be achieved with perseverance.

I feel children are very self-aware and are very vulnerable to positive and negative feedback. Therefore, no matter how little progress is made, praise them. If no progerss is made or if an issue needs to re-addressed, praise them..."That was great, but let's try it this way!" I feel that you are positive, smiling, and they believe that you believe in them, 9 out of 10 kids will follow you!
I was more of an instructor than a teacher. I was a day camp counselor at Solway House parent/child resort in Saugerties N.Y. I instructed kids how to swim, dive, play various sports and gave dancing lessons to the guests. As a high school student I tutored 7th and 8th graders in an after school community center. I was one of a few staff at the University of Connecticut to instruct graduates and staff in the use of the various electronic facilites available to them.
