2+ years of private instruction for bass, plus experience as a substitute special education teaching assistant. Have taught ages 8-15 in music and ages 5-10 in special education. Can teach any subject at the basic and intermediate level. Have also done substitute teaching as a general music teacher for elementary school and middle school classes. I have been a musician for 6 years, playing in a variety of bands at different venues. I have formally studied music for the past few years and excelled in the subject. I have taken multiple theory classes and passed each with grades much higher then average. My main instruments of focus are acoustic/electric guitar and bass. I have taught private lessons for guitar and bass guitar students of all ages, skill levels and backgrounds since November 2007. I can teach many styles of music such as traditional classical, rock, blues, jazz and funk. I currently hold a teaching position in Billerica, MA.
My approach to teaching is to first make a general assessment of the student's skill level and having the student play what he or she is comfortable with on their instrument. I try to make sure that a student is getting comfortable with the music they are learning before leaving the lesson by breaking down the subject matter and going over it a few times.
