A Little Bit About Me...

I have over 10 years teaching at the college level. Some of that experience is face-to-face and most is online. I am a strong advocate for education. I also have two children of my own who I work with on a daily basis. Both of my children excel in school and I believe it is because of the one-on-one work we do at home.
I am a believer in life-long learning. I believe that as a teacher it is our responsiblity to find the technique that matches with the child in developing their ability to learn. I have children of my own and I love to watch as they learn new concepts and grasp ideas. I believe it is a partnership between children, teacher and parents to create the learning environment and support.

I graduated from Lawrence Technological University with a bachelor's degree in Business / Computer Information Systems. I completed numerous courses in Mathematics, Science, Statistics, English Composition, and computers. I have 20 years experience working in the Computer and Health field for Chrysler Corporation and St. John Health. Also, I returned to college to pursue an associate degree in Nursing and Radiology. I am a former Student Teacher at the college and have been involved with computer tutoring for over 10 years.
I enjoy working with children. I have volunteered my time as a football, baseball and basketball coach for several years. A Little Bit About Me...

My passion is in watching others to succeed, and I am willing to change my own methods to make that happen. Thus, my tutoring style depends almost entirely on the student as I have found that the most common reason a tutor is needed is that the student's learning style does not match with the teacher's teaching style. I can tutor through examples, visually drawing concepts, talking, describing the reasons behind a concept, and most importantly, I can relate almost every subject to daily life.
I began officially tutoring four years ago, starting up a private tutoring business. Through it, I have taught ages 5 through 55 in nearly all subjects, including mathematics, science, physics, ACT, and English. I also have tutored publicly at Oakland University for one year, where I earned my tutoring certification (level 1).
