Learn to paint and draw with mastery!

My teaching style is encouraging and stimulating. I love what I do and I really enjoy sharing my knowledge with others. I instruct specifically to the level of the student: from beginner to highly advanced. I've also been told that I'm pretty funny but you'll have to make up your own mind about that.
I received my Bachelor of Arts in both Studio Art and Psychology from Brandeis University, Boston, and continued my studies for two years at the Jerusalem Studio School in Jerusalem, Israel, as a member of the Master Class with Israel Hershberg. Passionate and dedicated teacher

I believe in instilling a love of learning in the reader that lasts a lifetime. In order to achieve this I work hard to find books for the child to read that sparks a passion within the child. It is also very important to use books that are not too easy or not too difficult for the child. I also plan activities specific to the areas that the child needs to work on that are engaging and fun.
I have two years experience teaching reading to struggling readers through America Reads. One of my students in this program went from the lowest reading group to the highest. My primary goal is to help students understand the "why" of studies. "Why" do we look for differentials in calculus? "Why" do we describe imagery in poetry instead of just saying how we feel? "Why" do we enter compound keys in some SQL tables but not others? "Why" do we need a conclusion on our essay? If we understand why we do something, we are far more likely to remember how to do it. I also strive to keep the homework the work of the student. They do the work, I guide them to the correct (or at least best) answer. Students are more likely to remember how to complete the problem if they are in the driver seat, not the tutor.
